Group of mounted Wisconsin bird specimens

These specimens of Wisconsin birds were collected in the late 1800s to early 1900s. At that time, taxidermy was a common hobby. Two of the Wisconsin Academy members profiled in this exhibition, Philo Romayne Hoy and Thure Kumlien, were accomplished taxidermists.
